DAVE NAVARRO On SUPERNOVA: 'I Am Really Amped To See What These Guys Do Musically'

July 7, 2006

Executive producer and host of the CBS reality-TV hit "Rock Star: Supernova", former JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, has commented on the first couple of episodes of the program, which is looking for a lead singer for SUPERNOVA, a newly-formed band comprised of MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer (and former NBC reality show star) Tommy Lee, former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted, and former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Says Navarro: "So the new season of 'Rockstar: Supernova' has officially begun and someone is going home tonight [Thursday, July 6]! Lots of predictions already across the Internet, but you never know... Last year people were absolutely certain as to who they thought would win. 'Jordis for sure!' 'I think it's Mig.' 'Marty has this locked.' Things change and always do. I have my favorites, but I have to keep that to myself for now. Put it this way... I am not too good at containing my reactions when I really think someone is great.

"So far it has been a blast working with Tommy, Jason and Gilby.

"This season feels a lot closer to home as I have known these guys for a long time and have actually seen them all live many times over. In fact, they are all in my music library! I thought INXS was a great band, but I never owned an album of theirs. I was initially interested in the show to help promote unsigned artists and help push rock back into the face of the public. The same holds true for this season, but I am also really amped to see what these guys do musically.

"Since I already made my opinions clear last night I guess it is safe to say who I think will go home. As I write this, the votes haven't been counted and the band hasn't made a decision. (They vote who goes home on their own... I have nothing to do with that.) My vote home is for Chris who did 'Roxanne'. I just don't know what he was thinking. Sure, he is more 'rock' than some of the others, but he simply tanked. Just my opinion though, I could be wrong. I was wrong once before, but I don't really remember what it was about! (Post-show update: Make that twice!! Hahahahahaha...)"
